Dons

Dons are upper-year or graduate student leaders who bring their enthusiasm for university life and the student experience to our residence communities.  Dons provide mentorship, support and an engaging environment where students can interact and get to know one another. They  live in residence and support  students  by: building community, sharing valuable services and resources on campus, organizing events and activities,  and ensuring that residence policies are followed. Residence Engagement Leader 

Residence Engagement Leaders (RELs) foster positive community culture in residence and plan events to make great memories for students in residence, while also holding a waitlist position on the Residence Life Don team list. RELs are required to have a residence contract and commit to approximately 20 hours a month of community building in residence. The role requires excellent event planning skills, communication skills, time management, organization, and good judgement. Please contact hirehousing@uwaterloo.ca with any questions. 

NOTE: Candidates being considered for the REL position are not required to submit an application to live in residence prior to applying for this role. Successful candidates are guaranteed a space in residence and can apply to Campus Housing after they have been offered the position.

The Residence Life Team Leader (Team Leader) provides leadership and support to the Residence Life program in order to foster a positive residence experience conducive to successful academic study and personal development. This position requires strong team building skills, excellent communication skills, proven leadership ability, good judgement, and a sincere desire to contribute to the Residence Life program. Tutoring Program Assistant

The Drop-in Tutoring program provides students with a welcoming environment where students receive support and are encouraged to develop their academic skills. Tutoring Program Assistants (TPAs) are hired each term to serve as the room host to support the coordination, delivery, and evaluation of the Drop-in Tutoring offerings. The position will work with the Program and Resources Coordinator, Tutors, and Student Success Office staff to support the needs of tutoring participants. Residence Research

Student Researcher (SR)

Student researchers are upper year students who assist in conducting research in Campus Housing. They are involved in collecting, analyzing, and reporting research data and they report directly to the Principal Investigator of their assigned research project. Depending on the research project, student researchers will learn basic information about conducting research, conducting interviews, designing surveys, supervising study participants, and analyzing and reporting data. Student researchers are required to follow research ethics and procedures as well as maintain confidentiality. If you are interested in being directly involved in research and have strong work ethic, then this is a job for you!

Residence Fees Contract Appeals Committee  Representative

The Appeals Committee Student Representative helps evaluate and make decisions on contract appeal submissions. This is a volunteer position and a great way to build your skills, requiring only a few hours each term! Our ideal volunteer is a current Undergraduate student who is (1) currently living in residence, or has experience of living in residence, (2) is a positive influence in their community, (3) has good academic standing. Please apply by September 1, 2024 by sending a cover letter and resume to housing@uwaterloo.ca.

    • May 14, 2025, at 7 p.m. 

Step 2: Prepare your application

Important! Applications for SDRX roles will not be accepted beyond 12:00 p.m. May 20, 2025. 

You will have 7 working days to complete your application after you access the link above. If you need to leave your application before completing all your answers you can do so by accessing the link from the same device, you started it on.  

When you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive an email confirmation including a copy of your application.  If you have not received an email confirmation your application was not submitted correctly, please go back into the application form and complete all components.
