Researchers awarded 2015 SIGMOD Test-of-Time Award

Thursday, June 4, 2015

Congratulations to Lei Chen, M. Tamer Özsu and Vincent Oria who were awarded the 2015 SIGMOD Test-of-Time Award at the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Management Of Data Conference this week, for their 2005 SIGMOD paper "Robust and Fast Similarity Search for Moving Object Trajectories."

The annual ACM SIGMOD conference is a leading international forum for database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.

The ACM SIGMOD Test of Time Award recognizes the best paper from the SIGMOD proceedings 10 years prior (i.e., for 1998 the 1988 proceedings will be consulted), based on the criterion of identifying the paper that has had the most impact (research, products, methodology) over the intervening decade. This paper is chosen by the SIGMOD Awards Committee.

This paper was part of Lei Chen's PhD thesis supervised by M. Tamer Özsu at Waterloo.
