Distinguished Alumni Award

Award criteria

The Faculty of Science established the Distinguished Alumni Award to honour and recognize significant service, contribution, and achievements of alumni. This prestigious award is bestowed upon alumni who demonstrate significant contribution(s) in one or more of the following areas, in recognition of their accomplishments:

  • Professional and/or academic achievement, including but not limited to:
    Exemplary career success (industry, government, academia); Significant recognition or awards; Leadership, Board, or other advisory roles; and visible success known beyond industry segment.
  • Contributions to society, including but not limited to:
    Significant, sustained involvement, volunteerism, philanthropy, IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility); Highly visible community service that is clearly recognized; Proven impact (could be local, regional, national, international); Engagement with University of Waterloo (involvement, advocacy, support such as co-op hiring, industry partnership, etc.).

Eligibility

Nominees must be a graduate of the University of Waterloo Faculty of Science undergraduate and/or graduate program(s).

Nomination process

The Faculty of Science welcomes nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award from alumni, students, staff, retirees and members of the public.

To nominate an alumnus for the Distinguished Alumni Award, a short online nomination form must be completed for an individual to be considered.
