Craft your own degree by taking courses that fit with your passions and interests, or align your labs and lectures to the requirements of any professional school you want to attend. Whether you have a specific science career goal in mind, or you know you just love science but aren’t ready to devote yourself to a single discipline, Honours Science is the right program for you. Allowing you maximum freedom to pick and choose your labs and lectures, Honours Science is one of our most popular programs. Round out your Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a minor of your choice, or keep it flexible — it’s completely up to you. And that’s the whole point — make this degree what you want it to be. Innovate and combine science in ways you may never have thought possible.

First-year courses

Only 12 of your 21 credits must be in Science, so you'll have plenty of room to add interesting courses in gerontology, languages, humanities, fine arts, kinesiology, and many other areas of study. Getting a minor in subjects like computer science or math is easy to do and adds to your marketability.

Upper-year courses

With the Honours Science program, your choices after first year are totally up to you. As long as 6 of your 10 courses per year are science related courses, you can choose whatever courses you want.

Admission information for future students

When you apply to Honours Science via the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), you'll have two options when selecting your subject of major interest:

  1. Unspecialized — you won't be automatically enrolled in any courses and you'll have the freedom to choose most of your first-year courses.
  2. Select one of the subjects below and you'll be enrolled automatically in courses that relate to your chosen field. You'll be free to change these courses later, but it gives you a good starting point to begin building your degree based on your interests.

Pathways

Honours Science is one of the recommended programs for meeting requirements for:

  • School of Pharmacy — Apply to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program in as early as your second year of university-level science.
