Campus Wellness Student Advisory Committee Member

Job Description

The Campus Wellness Student Advisory Committee Member will attend monthly meetings to advise and consult on Campus Wellness services and initiatives for the duration of a one-year term.

The Campus Wellness Student Advisory Committee will enhance client engagement and improve the quality of programs and services at Campus Wellness (CW) by:

  • Providing input on/recommendations for improving or enhancing CW services, initiatives, procedures, processes, practices etc.
  • Representing client perspectives about their own and others experiences at CW, including undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Supporting CW to enhance its client engagement and client-centred care practices.
  • Strengthening communication and collaboration between CW clients, and students currently not engaging in services.

 “Client” refers to any student who receives support or services provided by CW whether on-going or as needed or who engages with any program that is provided by CW.

Remuneration: $25 per hour for meeting time

Time commitment: 2 hours per month for one year

Please note that this position can be fulfilled remotely from any location. However, preference will be for committee members to attend meetings in-person once on-campus activities have resumed and group meetings can be safely accomplished. The results of this application will be shared with a recruitment sub-committee consisting of outgoing SAC members. Personal identifying information such as names and emails will be redacted prior to being reviewed by this sub-committee, and all application information will be kept confidential.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a University of Waterloo student
  • Starting at least their 2A term in Spring 2022
  • Knowledgeable about Campus Wellness services, with a willingness to learn more
  • Must have access to a smart phone or computer with internet, camera, and microphone capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Event planning
    • Public speaking
    • Community organizing and advocacy work
    • Quality improvement, evaluation
  • Strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare access-related challenges facing equity-deserving groups

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Arrive prepared and on-time to scheduled monthly meetings
  • Review agenda and associated documents ahead of monthly meetings
  • Consult with other students at University of Waterloo for feedback and insight regarding new or current Campus Wellness services or initiatives
  • Be prepared to contribute to creative problem solving and diversification of ideas
  • Engage in relevant and necessary discussions at monthly meetings to support Campus Wellness in achieving their goals
    • Where appropriate, follow up on assigned action items
