What is Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT)?
Dialectical-behavioural therapy combines cognitive-behavioural to help you learn to (1) cope with intense, distressing emotions; and (2) develop healthy ways to manage distress when feeling overwhelmed. Each session will present a selection of skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. You are expected to practice these skills between sessions and apply to your own life experiences. You might benefit from this group if you are feeling overwhelmed by emotions; having difficulty managing emotions; use problematic coping strategies (e.g. self-harm, substance use); have chaotic interpersonal relationships; feel chronically empty or unsure about yourself; or feel that life is constantly overwhelming.
