For a second time, the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science has ranked in the global top-20 in subject-area rankings for Computer Science by U.S. News & World Report.
The global universities ranking uses a pool of 1,000 institutions to create the list of the top 750 schools. The top 750 schools were ranked using 12 indicators such as global research reputation, regional research reputation, publications, books, and conferences.
These subject-based rankings are based on Thomson Reuters’ essential science indicators subject categories, which reflect journal classifications. All of the indicators from the Global Universities ranking are used for the subject-based rankings except number of PhDs awarded and number of PhDs awarded per staff member. More details on the methodology used are available at How U.S. news calculated the best global universities rankings.
The Cheriton School has previously been ranked #24 in the world by QS Rankings, and #1 for software developers in Canada by LinkedIn Canadian University Rankings.
The Faculty of Mathematics ranked at 110 in the global subject-area rankings while the University of Waterloo ranked at #244 in the Global Universities ranking.
