Results of Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest

A Waterloo-local Association for Computing Machinery-style programming contest took place today on Saturday, September 30, 2017 with an unprecedented turnout — 154 registered contestants participated and 81 contestants solved at least one problem successfully.

  • 1st place: Reyno Tilikaynen (3A Computer Science/Combinatorics & Optimization)
  • 2nd place: Ted Ying (4A Software Engineering)
  • 3rd place: Joakim Blikstad (2A Computer Science)

These excellent results did not stop three. Nine contestants solved four problems, and another 31 contestants solved three problems. The complete standings are available at

Professors Troy Vasiga and Ondřej Lhoták are forming the teams that will represent Waterloo in the international ACM competition, starting with the East Central North America Regional Contest in Windsor on October 27 and 28, 2017.

If our teams do well there, one team of three students will represent Waterloo at the World Finals in Beijing on April 15–20, 2018.
