Winter admission 2017

The Mathematics program (co-op and regular) accepts applications if you wish to start your studies in January.

Admission requirements

Ontario high school students (if you applied using the 101 application)

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Minimum of 6 Grade 12 university (U) preparation or university/college (M) preparation courses, which must include all required courses as specified for each program.
  • Overall average of 80% on the best 6 Grade 12 courses, including required courses. Higher averages are required for admission to programs in which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the number of places available.
  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.
  • If your first language is not English, see Waterloo's English language requirements.

In order to be considered for admission for winter 2017, you must

  • Have completed your Ontario Secondary School requirements no later than December 1, 2016;
  • Provide your final transcripts no later than December 1, 2016.

All other applicants (if you applied using the 105 application)

  • Please see applying to Waterloo for admission requirements.
  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.
  • If your first language is not English, see Waterloo's English language requirements.
  • If you are currently in your first term at college or university, you are not eligible for admission in January because your official final first-term marks will not be available before our documentation deadline of December 1.

Admission decisions are based on a review of your academic records to date, including your high school marks and post-secondary marks if applicable.

Special consideration will be given to your marks in courses required for admission.

How to apply

Applications to Waterloo are handled by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).

  • For current Ontario high school students, the application will be available starting October 3, 2016.
  • For students not currently studying in an Ontario high school, the application will be available starting in mid-September 2016.

Once we receive your information from OUAC, we'll email you with your next steps. We'll begin sending emails in mid-October 2016.

Important dates

  • Application deadline: October 28, 2016
  • Deadline to submit your documents to Waterloo: December 1, 2016
  • Classes begin: January 3, 2017

Note: Due to the very tight timelines for winter admissions, you're encouraged to have your current and/or past school(s) submit your most recent grades, including mid-term marks, as soon as possible.

Offers of admission

Most of Waterloo's offers of admission will be made no later than December 11, 2016 for the winter 2017 term.

You'll be notified of your admission decision via email. Your official offer will be included in the email.

You'll have 2 weeks from date of your offer to accept your Offer of Admission. Instructions will be included in your offer email.
