Information for

January admission 2018

The Mathematics program (co-op and regular) accepts applications if you wish to start your studies in January.

Admission requirements

Ontario high school students (if you applied using the 101 application)

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Minimum of 6 Grade 12 university (U) preparation or university/college (M) preparation courses, which must include all required courses (Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), English (ENG4U).
  • The best 6 Grade 12 courses, with an overall average in the high 80’s, including required courses.
  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.
  • If your first language is not English, see Waterloo's English language requirements.

In order to be considered for admission for winter 2018, you must

  • Have completed your Ontario Secondary School requirements no later than December 1, 2017;
  • Provide your final transcripts no later than December 1, 2017.

All other applicants (if you applied using the 105 application)

  • Please see applying to Waterloo for admission requirements.
  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.
  • If your first language is not English, see Waterloo's English language requirements.
  • If you are currently in your first term at college or university, you are not eligible for admission in January because your official final first-term grades will not be available before our documentation deadline of December 1.

Admission decisions are based on a review of your academic records to date, including your high school grades and post-secondary grades if applicable.

Special consideration will be given to your grades in courses required for admission.

How to apply

  • If you are not a Canadian citizen (and studying in or outside Canada), you can apply in July 2017.
  • For current Ontario high school students, and Canadian citizens the application will be available starting October 2, 2017.

Once we receive your information from OUAC, we'll email you with your next steps.

Applications to Waterloo are handled by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).

Note: Please ensure that the email address you specify on your application is accurate. We'll be sending you important information by email.

Important dates

  • Application deadline: October 27, 2017
  • Deadline to submit your documents to Waterloo: December 1, 2017
  • Classes begin: January 3, 2018

Sending your official documents

Once you have received your Waterloo ID#, you'll be able to upload your unofficial school transcripts using Quest. Due to the very tight timelines for winter admissions, you're encouraged to upload your documents as soon as possible.

When possible, please include your full name, program(s) and term applied to, Waterloo ID number, and OUAC reference number in your correspondence.

Offers of admission

Most of Waterloo's offers of admission will be made no later than December 8, 2017 for the winter 2018 term.

You'll be notified of your admission decision via email. Your official offer can be found on your student centre in Quest.

You'll have 2 weeks from date of your offer to accept your Offer of Admission. Instructions will be included in your offer email.
