Getting involved on campus is a great way to meet new people, explore your interests, take a break from academics, and have fun.
As activities happen on campus all year round, there are endless opportunities for you to find your niche and socialize with others!
Choose from more than 200 clubs
Whether you're interested in food, politics, dance, business, gaming, or the environment, joining one of our student clubs is the perfect way to find something you love and meet others who share that same passion.
And if there isn't a club that matches your interests, you can gather a group of friends and start your own with the help of our student government.
Ever wonder what it'd be like if there was a zombie apocalypse? No need to wonder anymore! The Waterloo Science Fiction and Fantasy Club hosts a popular campus-wide game of Humans vs. Zombies that lasts 24 hours a day for 5 days.
The Bombshelter Pub is the place to be – especially on Wednesdays! Dance it out to your favourite music, have great food and drinks – all right on campus.
With themed events like Beyoncé night, Thursday Trivia, and Wing Night Friday, you'll have a new experience every week!
It's no surprise that a university like Waterloo focused on ideas is part of the global TEDx movement. TEDxUW provides the opportunity for you and other students to come together, share ideas, and be inspired to think differently about the world.
Take part in Canada's largest hackathon, Hack the North. More than 1,000 students from around the world come to Waterloo to experiment, connect, and create.
Prime ministers, astronauts, and more
You'll also be able to join in on special lectures hosted at Waterloo. Previous guests include:

Experience special events that happen on campus and are exclusive to you.
Were you involved in student council in high school? Then you may want to check out the Federation of Students (FEDS), owned and operated by Waterloo students. The FEDS operate businesses, student services, and clubs along with Orientation and other special events.
As well, most programs have a student society of their own – a great way to meet upper-year students in your program.
Our residence cafeterias offer many different food stations all in one spot, including crispy chicken wraps – a student favourite. You do not need to be living in residence to enjoy a meal here.
