On September 11, 2017, the Accessibility Committee met for the first time. The Committee, whose members will meet on a monthly basis, acts in an advisory capacity to the Associate Provost, Human Resources. Its mandate is to enable the University to adopt policies and practices that maintain an environment of equity and respect for persons with disabilities, and ensure compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The Committee seeks to adopt best practices where possible, and will incorporate innovation, wellness and continuous improvement into crafting solutions. The Accessibility at Waterloo webpage has additional information on the mandate and membership of the Accessibility Committee.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
