Dear Arts students, here is an illustrated guide to the Hagey Hall Hub and how you can get the most from this space dedicated first and foremost to student use.
The Hub is normally open seven days a week, 24 hours per day (24/7, in other words). On weekends and late evenings, your best bet is to enter via the front doors (facing Arts Lecture Hall), which remain unlocked.
Founders Hall is the entire ground floor area, named to honour UWaterloo's founders. It offers plenty of tables and chairs, work counters, lounge chairs, sofas and small tables. It is intended as both social and study space, or just a place to relax and recharge. Founders Hall is not normally bookable for events -- this is to ensure students can use the space anytime. In rare exceptions made by the Dean of Arts, Founders Hall may be used for special events.
H3 Café in Founders Hall features coffee, tea, cold drinks, baked goods and grab ‘n’ go lunches. The current hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Project Cube (HH 2034) is the glass-walled room at the front of the Hub’s second floor. It is available for booking by Arts students with a valid Watcard: please contact the Dean of Arts Office, ext. 42012, with 48 hours notice and provide the event details.
The second floor mezzanine area is an open space that can be used for student events and displays, and offers some benches and workspace counters.
The Study Deck (HH 3042, top floor of Hub) is a glass-walled room with comfortable chairs and tables for quiet study.
The Hub elevator... is not yet functional, and UWaterloo Plant Operations are working on. We hope to see it running soon.
