Lupina Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Overview

With the generous support of the Lupina Foundation, the Faculty of Arts invites candidates for its Lupina Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellows program. This fellowship aims to attract the best and brightest researchers addressing the social determinants of health, with an emphasis on research at the intersection of health, society, and technology.

The program will support exceptional early researchers committed to improved access to health care, quality of life and health outcomes, and the development of preventive solutions for health issues regionally, nationally, and globally.

A field of lupin flowers

The Faculty of Arts has a diverse group of researchers working within and across many different areas addressing multi-faceted questions related to healthcare, policy, economy, and technology. Lupina Research Fellows will have the opportunity to work with top research faculty at Waterloo and join a collegial and supportive interdisciplinary research environment. Arts will promote community building among postdoctoral fellows by facilitating the interaction of existing and new postdoctoral fellows (including Lupina and non-Lupina funded researchers) through professional development activities, research mash-ups, and social events.

The recruitment cycle for a position of a postdoctoral fellow is from Winter to Summer and includes the following recruitment stages:

Funding Model 2 - Internally Funded Postdoctoral Fellows

Funding provided to postdoctoral fellows who are supported from a fund held by their supervisor (e.g., SSHRC Insight Grants, Ontario Early Researcher Awards, CIHR). The supervisor’s fund will cover at least 50% of the postdoctoral fellow’s salary. The Donor will supplement the postdoctoral fellow’s funding, increasing the salary to $70,000 per year with a maximum duration of two years, and provide a Research Stipend of $5,000 over the two years.
