If you’ve been away from an Arts program for more than three terms and would like to return to studies, you may apply for undergraduate readmission. Readmission is considered for the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
In the Faculty of Arts, readmission may be considered for the following:
- Second degree from the University of Waterloo
- Degree upgrade (e.g. upgrading from a General to Honours degree in the same major)
- Post-degree studies
- Resuming studies after more than three inactive terms
- Resuming studies after a failed academic standing
If you have received a "Failed – May not Continue in Faculty" academic standing in Arts, an application for readmission will normally not be considered until a period of least five years has elapsed. Readmission is not guaranteed.
Steps to apply for readmission
Step 1: If you would like to discuss the readmission process, timeline, or your eligibility, please email the Manager of Academic Advising. This is recommended if you’re planning on pursuing a second degree, degree upgrade, or resuming studies after a long absence or a failed standing.
- Following this, you may wish to book an advising appointment to discuss any additional questions you may have.
Step 2: Once you’re ready, complete the online application for undergraduate readmission form for the term you wish to apply for.
- If you have studied at another university or college during your time away, make arrangements to have your official transcripts from previous institutions sent directly to the Registrar’s Office via MyCreds.
Step 3: If you have been successfully readmitted, you will receive a confirmation email from the Registrar’s Office, including the contact information for your new academic advisor. Please contact your academic advisor to confirm your remaining degree requirements.
