Psychology professor Colin MacLeod named Royal Society of Canada fellow

Congratulations to Colin MacLeod, professor and chair of the Department of Psychology, one of three University of Waterloo scholars named as new fellows of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), announced today.

The fellowship of the RSC are those who have made outstanding contributions in the arts, the humanities, science, and Canadian public life. They have been peer-selected as among the best in their field.

From the RSC announcement:

"Colin M. MacLeod is internationally acclaimed for his research on attention and memory. His elegant work has revealed where attention fails, rejecting prevalent theories and developing new explanations. His extensive research on memory has been instrumental in distinguishing conscious from unconscious memory processes. His scholarly, field-defining review articles are prized for their thoroughness and depth. MacLeod is highly regarded for his contributions to scientific knowledge, education, and leadership."
