Project Summary
This project will fund the development and management of the first annual season of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management’s (GEM) podcast elucidating the discipline of Geography, the study of the spatial component of a variety of themes that define and impact both human and natural systems, while giving undergraduate students the opportunity to gain critical modern skills in science and academic communications. The podcast is designed to build a cohort of undergraduate Geography students using student volunteers to a) advertise social events, student governance and research opportunities, and b) provide evocative interviews with faculty members, industry leaders and other students that discuss the pervasiveness of geographic concepts in everyday life. Listeners will gain an understanding of the types of research that their professors conduct, gaining deeper context of the application of Geographic principles in tackling the complex problems of the current age.
