For more than twenty years professor Emanuel Carvalho has demonstrated a consistent record of outstanding teaching performance over a broad range of classes, from large introductory lecture courses to small upper year and graduate seminar courses. He has also been a regular contributor to the distance education program of the University. While his lectures display his great depth of knowledge of economics, professor Carvalho takes care to encourage and persuade students to reach their maximum potential. During his years as associate chair for undergraduate affairs, in the Department of Economics, professor Carvalho has been an exceptional advisor. He has also played a significant role in the development of the curriculum of the department. His patience and dedication to his students reflect his commitment to excellence in teaching. There are few in the entire university, who have had a more varied and effective impact on the teaching mission of this university.
