Times Higher Education (THE) and Maclean's University Rankings 2026 surveys continue to rank Waterloo among the best universities in the world.
Every year, over 55,000 academics and scholars assess the missions and successes of over 2,000 post-secondary institutions across the world as part of THE's university rankings. Their rankings look at everything from individual subjects to impacts on sustainability. This year's THE's rankings put Waterloo at 162 out of over 2,000 institutions. Waterloo also excelled in Computer Science (43rd) and Engineering (78th), and was among the top 200 for impact rankings. THE rankings continue to testify to Waterloo's quality education and positive impact on communities and the environment.
Maclean's gives a Canadian flair to university rankings by ranking the performance of universities across Canada. Their comprehensive rankings look at schools offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs and demonstrate significant contributions to research. Out of these schools, Waterloo remains #1 in reputation and the 5th best overall university in Canada.
