You’re invited to the 3rd annual Psych Summer Pool Party!!! No, unfortunately we don’t have an actual full sized pool hidden in the depths of the PAS, but we will have water and non-water games, music, pizza, a “cold treat,” and lots of fun!

Common and specific factors in CBT: Theory and research from studies in the treatment of anxiety

The common vs. specific factors debate has been around for almost 90 years. Most advocates of CBT have suggested that common factors are necessary, but not sufficient. Others have argued that the Dodo Bird is alive and well, and that all treatments that are credible or bona fide yield similar results.

Benefits of Self-Compassion

Graduate students in the Clinical area of our Department will provide a workshop on the Benefits of Self-Compassion at the Kitchener Public Library (Central Branch) on March 5th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  This talk will include defininig self-compassion (what it is and what it is not), talking about the benefits of adopting self-compassion in day-to-day life, and exploring the science behind self-compassion.  The talk will also include an opportunity to practice using self-compassion and provide resources for further learning.
