UWaterloo proudly cheers for Liberal Arts student Mandy Bujold as she competes in Women’s Boxing for Team Canada at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Mandy Bujold
Based out of Kitchener, Bujold began boxing at the age of 16 and won her first junior national title at 19. Her gold medal win at the 2011 Pan American Games is a career highlight, as it was the first time women’s boxing was included in the Games. She then successfully defended her title at the Pan Am Games in Toronto last summer.

Bujold, a medal favourite in the women’s flyweight category, is scheduled to fight Yodgoroy Mirzaeva (UZB) in the preliminaries at 10:15 a.m. EST on Friday, August 12. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals and face China’s Cancan Ren on August 16, with the semifinals taking place August 18 and the finals on August 20. You can watch Bujold’s matches on CBC.
