Arts Declare Your Major Form 2024

Please note:

Departmental specializations cannot be declared on this form.
Diplomas or certificates cannot be declared until the point of graduation. Contact the department offering the specialization, diploma, or certificate to ensure you are selecting appropriate courses as you progress towards your degree.
Certain credential (major, minor, diploma) combinations are not permitted. Refer to the Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar for details - review the Faculty of Arts section under 'Additional Constraints', as well as the table under 'Specific Invalid Credential Combinations.'

Who should complete this form?

This form is only for first year Honours Arts and Honours Arts and Business students who are declaring their major for the first time.

If you are an upper year Arts student making changes to your plan, please complete a plan modification form and submit the form to the academic advisor of your requested major/minor or The Centre.

If you are in another faculty looking to transfer into Arts, please follow the instructions on our transfer to Arts page.

Am I able to re-submit the form?

It is important that you wait to complete this form until you are certain of your requested plan and major. Please speak with your academic advisor if you need advice about your major options.

Once submitted, if you realize you have made a mistake, or changed your mind about something included on the form, you can complete a new form submission. You will only have until April 5, 2024 to do this. After this date you will need to contact artsadvisor@uwaterloo.ca for assistance.
