Description
Research led by Dr. Matthew Brehmer in the U. Waterloo CS Human-Computer Interaction lab has led to a novel alternative to screen sharing content during presentations, one that composites charts and diagrams in the foreground of webcam video, content that can be manipulated via gestural interaction. While this form of augmented reality video could be applied to delivering online lectures, it could also be viable for peer tutoring and assessment, as the video compositing and interaction can be reciprocated across multiple meeting participants. The work was recently accepted and presented in April at the ACM CHI conference, the premier venue for HCI research (Video | Paper). Dr. Brehmer is seeking interest from educators from all faculties interested in developing lecture and tutorial content in this new modality.

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
