Well-designed rubrics can have many advantages when assessing and providing feedback to students. Rubrics have seen application in many classroom contexts, being utilized to assess papers, projects, and a variety of other assignments. LEARN conveniently supports the design and assessment of student work using rubrics as well, providing a robust tool that can facilitate your grading process.
Rubric creation in LEARN consists of two components: firstly, the construction of the rubric itself and the decisions which contribute to how you will design and utilize your rubric; and secondly, the alignment of the rubric to the appropriate assignment and understanding how to assess and provide feedback using the rubric.
This workshop will walk participants through these two processes, and by the end of the workshop, participants will develop their own rubrics and assign feedback to sample assignments appropriately.
Note: This course cannot be used as credit for any graduate student programs that are offered by the Centre for Teaching Excellence.
