Monday, July 16, 2018
Laura Williams, CTE Graduate Instructional Developer and PhD Candidate in the Department of Kinesiology, has been awarded a 2018 Applied Health Sciences Teaching Assistant Award. The award recognizes Laura's efforts to enhance student learning in her work as Teaching Assistant and Tutorial Coordinator for KIN 232: Research Design and Statistics in Kinesiology. In her role, Laura restructured tutorial content to focus on active learning by developing practice problem sets, incorporating Kahoot quizzes, and creating handouts for students to engage with during tutorials. Laura also focused on redeveloping the course's large group assignment by implementing scaffolded assignments where students work on small portions of the assignment throughout the semester and engage in an iterative feedback process with their TAs. Congratulations, Laura!
