As Educational Developer, TA Training and Writing Support, Dr. Kristin Brown supports graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in their teaching development as well as instructors integrating writing into their courses and curriculum. Kristin facilitates the Certificate in University Teaching program and supports the Fundamentals of University Teaching program. She also supervises CTE's six TA Workshop Facilitators.Kristin consults with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows developing their teaching statements and teaching dossiers. Additionally, she supports instructors in designing and providing feedback on written assessments, facilitating peer review, and  developing rubrics. 

Kristin completed her PhD in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo, where her research focused on how evidence can be integrated to enhance practice in education, using mixed (quantitative-qualitative) methods. She is the recipient of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Planning and Dissemination Grant, two CIHR Training Grants, and two Ontario Graduate Scholarships. Previously, Kristin worked at CTE as the Educational Research Associate, supporting teaching and learning research and the assessment of the Centre's work. She also implemented the University of Waterloo investigation of a multi-institutional, SSHRC-funded study examining institutional teaching culture. Kristin's research interests include inclusive educational practices and pedagogy that supports student wellbeing. Find out more about her research related to TAs supporting student mental health
