Mechanical Engineering
Metin Renksizbulut, professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, is truly an outstanding teacher in all aspects associated with being a teacher. He maintains a collegial relationship with his students, either in large core undergraduate courses or large core service courses to departments other than his own. He sets high standards for the students which he is able to motivate them to attain. He pays much attention to and is always accessible to students outside class hours. He makes tremendous effort to help students not only to acquire knowledge, but to integrate the knowledge learned from various classes. He is very skilful in demonstrating and generating in students a willingness to work and an enthusiasm for the discipline. He always encourages students' independent and critical thinking, is always open to questions and differing opinions and is remarkably skilled at both eliciting and responding to them. His excellent communication skills, teaching abilities and techniques and above all, his dedication to students over his nearly two-decade long academic career, have won him the collective heart of the students and his colleagues.
