Andrea Chakma is currently a PhD Student in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, studying the application of social robots in educational settings. She completed the Fundamentals of University Teaching program in 2024 and is currently pursuing the Certificate in University Teaching. She has TA’d several courses in Systems Design Engineering, including Foundations of AI, Digital Logic and Cognitive Ergonomics.
Andrea is passionate about creating spaces where students are encouraged to ask questions and learn from their experiences. She has been a facilitator with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, training leaders around the world on non-formal education and the use of active learning methods in a non-formal setting. She firmly believes that students learn more from putting their knowledge into hands on activities so they can see how the concepts they learn on paper can be applied into the real world. She is excited to be taking on a role as a Workshop Facilitator this term.
