Bao Khanh Nguyen is a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry, studying protein unfolding, misfolding, and aggregation mechanisms that underlie neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She completed the Fundamentals of University Teaching program in 2025 and is currently pursuing the Certificate in University Teaching. She has served as a TA for both lecture-based and lab-based courses in the Department of Chemistry, and received the Graduate Teaching Assistant Excellence Award in 2023.
Bao’s pedagogy is deeply rooted in arts-based learning. As a biochemist and published poet, she firmly believes in creative endeavors as a uniquely engaging form of active learning that transforms the process of learning into one of self-discovery, self-expression, and human connection. Bao is passionate about fostering spaces where students feel empowered to develop their creative instincts, nurture empathy, and reframe mistakes as valuable opportunities for learning or creating anew. She is excited to take on the role of Workshop Facilitator in the coming terms.
