Humaira Shoaib

Humaira is a PhD candidate in English Studies. Her dissertation examines the representation of Muslims in Canadian literary fiction. She is an active member of the English Department and has been elected President of her departmental Graduate Student Association (SAGE-UW) for the second year.

Humaira completed the CTE Fundamentals of University Teaching certificate last year and is currently enrolled in the Certificate in University Teaching program.  She believes passion, compassion, and empathy are essential traits of an effective educator. In 2022, she won the English TA Award for excellence in University Teaching. She has worked as a teaching assistant for more than ten courses and is now teaching courses as an independent instructor. She looks forward to facilitating TAs in the Fundamentals of University Teaching Program.
