Marianna Ottoni (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Sustainability Management at the University of Waterloo. Her research explores critical raw materials and Canada’s transition to electromobility. Before starting her PhD, she earned a Master’s in Environmental and Energy Planning and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, including an exchange term in Berlin.
During her graduate studies, Marianna has been a teaching assistant in courses offered by the Faculty of Environment, including Industrial Ecology, Global Environment and Health, Sustainable Development in Business, and Stakeholder Engagement. She has also facilitated workshops in Brazil and Canada on sustainability, circular economy, and environmental education. Marianna completed the Fundamentals of University Teaching certificate and is currently working toward the Certificate in University Teaching. She is passionate about inclusive, reflective pedagogy and is excited to support fellow TAs in developing confidence and creativity in their teaching.
