As the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) Faculty Liaison for the Faculty of Mathematics, Matthew Babela supports instructors in developing their teaching strategies, learning activities, course design, assessment methods, and the effective integration of educational technologies. Additionally, he assists instructors in their teaching and learning initiatives, and serves as a guide for instructors and graduate students seeking to navigate and utilize the extensive resources offered by CTE.
Prior to joining CTE, Matthew worked as an Instructional Support Coordinator in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science (SAS) where he supported instructors with their course delivery including the integration of technology, managed TAs, advised undergraduates, and taught introductory statistics. Prior to joining UWaterloo he was an instructor and course developer at Brock University and part-time professor at Niagara College. Matthew has a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, a BEd, and an MSc in Mathematical Physics from Brock University. In his free time Matthew likes bouldering, yoga, and watching sci-fi shows.
