Sonell Malik (she/her) is a fourth year UWaterloo PhD student at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, specializing in Quantum Information. In her time as graduate student, she has held TA positions for undergrad Physics courses. She has also participated in IQC-outreach, hosting classes and seminars for high-school and undergrad students. Sonell completed the Fundamentals of University Teaching program in 2024 and is currently working towards the Certificate in University Teaching program.
She completed a dual degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali in India. She was a USEQIP and URA candidate at QPD lab in IQC, University of Waterloo for the summer term in 2019, following which, she joined as a PhD student with the same group in 2021. She aims to encourage participation and bring more interest to studies and career in Physics, and wants to work towards creating a more interdisciplinary approach to learning in the Physics department.
