Tara identifies as a graduate student and young public health professional working to strengthen health systems with a vision that “everything & everywhere is public health”. She is a second-year PhD Student in the Department of Geography and Environment Management, Faculty of Environment (GoHeLP Lab) at the University of Waterloo. She holds a BHSc from Western University and a dual MPH (Europubhealth+) in Governance and Health Economics. She has an active research interest in planetary health, nature-based social prescribing, health literacy and cross-sectoral collaborations.
Tara is also a strong advocate for amplifying young voices in dialogue, research and practice. She is currently the Chair for the IHLA- Health Literacy Explorers Council, running collaborative activities such as journal clubs and learning seminars. She is also the Climate-Health Fellow with the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), working on the integration of climate-health competencies in public health curriculum. Tara completed the CTE’s Fundamental of University Teaching program in 2023, and has held various TA positions. She has a keen interest to understand learner behaviours in evolving learning environments, and adopting new technology to the classroom. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the region through rock climbing, sailing, and volunteering at community events.
