The University of Waterloo is excited to share and experience university with you! During this full-day, on-campus experience, you will have the opportunity to explore Waterloo's campus, visit residence, and try a variety of extracurricular activities.

What to Expect 

Students will be welcomed to campus bright and early with continental breakfast options and a chance to get to know other participants from around the Waterloo Region. 

Throughout the day, you can expect to engage in a variety of activities that showcase campus and student life including: 

  • Recreational sessions of your choice highlighting the University’s athletic facilities. Past sessions have included indoor rock-climbing, e-sports, ballet, etc. 

  • Interactive workshops of your choice hosted by one of our 6 academic faculties. Past workshops have included learning about human anatomy using real human cadaver specimens or exploring the engineering design cycle in a post-apocalyptic simulation.  

  • Visits to residence buildings to see a glimpse of on-campus residence life 

  • Visits to key campus buildings like the Student Life Centre, libraries, lecture halls etc. 

  • Other fun highlights could include trips to the W Store and a bonfire at one of the on-campus fire pits 

Lunch and dinner will be provided for participants while on campus. Students can expect to be on campus from around 8am to 7pm. Final details and times will be provided to confirmed participants closer to the date of the event.

Liability Waiver

ACKNOWLEDGMENT, RELEASE, AND WAIVER 

I hereby certify that I am an adult over the age of eighteen (18) years either participating in the Waterloo: Exploring University with You Program (the “Program”), or the adult parent or legal guardian of the minor child under the age of eighteen (18) participating in the Program, as applicable. Participants in the Program will be participating in a variety of activities, including but not limited to exploring the University of Waterloo Campus and participating in extracurricular, recreational, and educational activities, attending lectures, and dining at multiple locations. I am agreeing to take full responsibility for my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, safety and supervision while on the University of Waterloo Main Campus (200 University Avenue West, Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1). I am solely responsible for my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, actions, inactions, conduct and behaviour, including without limitation, my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, negligence, willful misconduct, or failure to abide by the terms of the University of Waterloo’s Policies, and all consequences flowing out of the foregoing. I have informed myself, or the minor child, as applicable, of all risks (the “Risks”) to my person and possessions associated with participation in the Program, including without limitation, personal injury, sickness, death, or loss of or damage to my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, personal property.  

The University of Waterloo is not responsible for and does not guarantee the obligations of any third party involved in the Program. In the case of an emergency, I consent to the release of personal information as deemed appropriate by the University of Waterloo, acting reasonably. I, or the minor child, as applicable, will act safely and responsibly, and take all such other reasonable precautions to ensure my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, personal welfare.   

DISCLAIMER: The University of Waterloo, its governors, officers, employees, representatives, students, volunteers, successors, affiliates and/or assign (the “Releasees”) shall not be responsible for any harm, loss or injury, including death, suffered by me, or the minor child, as applicable, or any other person, at any time for any reason whatsoever, whether reasonably foreseeable or not, including, but without limitation, any Risks, harm, loss or injury, including death, caused by negligence on the part of the Releasees in connection with the Program.  

RELEASE: I, on my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, behalf and on behalf of my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and personal representatives (the “Releasors”), hereby release and forever discharge the Releasees and each of them from any and all suits, actions, causes of action, claims or demands of whatsoever kind and howsoever arising in relation to the Program, whether known or unknown, whether reasonably foreseeable or not and which the Releasors now have or at any time hereafter may have from any cause matter or thing whatsoever relating to the Program.  

INDEMNITY: I hereby covenant and agree with the Releasees that I, on my, or the minor child’s, as applicable, behalf and on behalf of the Releasors will at all times hereafter indemnify and save harmless the Releasees and each of them from all suits, actions, causes of action, claims or demands of whatsoever kind and howsoever arising, whether known or unknown, whether reasonably foreseeable or not, whether arising from the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, which may be made or brought against the Releasees in any way arising out of my participation in the Program or otherwise arising, including the costs of defending any such suits, actions or claims on a substantial indemnity basis.   

PERSONAL INFORMATION: By registering for this Program, each Participant, or their parent or legal guardian, as applicable, expressly consents to the University of Waterloo, its agents and/or representatives, collection, use, storing and sharing the personal information submitted for the purpose of administering and marketing the Program under the authority of the University of Waterloo Act, 1972 and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F. 31 as amended, as well as in compliance with University of Waterloo’s policies (e.g., Policy 46) and guidelines.  This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the University of Waterloo or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of their personal information. Participants, or their parent or legal guardian, as applicable, acknowledge that questions regarding the processing of personal information associated with this Program are to be directed to njmelcho@uwaterloo.ca. 

I understand that the terms of this agreement cannot be modified, waived or interpreted except in writing by the University of Waterloo and that no oral modification, waiver or interpretation shall be valid.  

I am of age of majority as defined by the Age of Majority and Accountability Act (RSO 1990), have had the opportunity to seek or have waived my right to seek legal advice, and have the full right, authority and capacity to agree to the terms of this agreement.   

This agreement is and shall be effective and binding upon me, my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns. By signing below, I am indicating my understanding of, agreement to and willingness to be bound by the terms contained herein.   

Registration Information

This event will be paid for, including transportation and meals.

Please note, this event is by invitation only. Only students who are enrolled in the Graduation Coach Program at our target schools and are supported by Jody Brown (WCDSB) and Chuder Teny (WRDSB) are eligible to attend. 

Registration for this event is first come, first serve so you are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Registration will remain open until May 21, 2026. 

Please note completing the following form is not confirmation that you will be able to attend the event, as spaces are limited. A confirmation email with next steps will be sent to all eligible students on May 21, 2026. 

Students who register below who do not meet the eligibility criteria or register after the maximum participant capacity has been reached will be communicated with directly.
