Leadership Labs: Articulating Meaningful Goals (Personal Leadership)

Wednesday, July 29, 2026 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Workshop Overview

There are many different types of goals that we can work towards in our roles: those that are skill or job-related, professional development, personal development, and those aligned to our department or institutional goals. Identifying the difference and priority between these goals, and striking the right balance, can feel challenging.

This Leadership Labs session gives space for participants to think through goal setting in a welcoming, exploratory, non-judgmental environment. Through individual reflection, small and large group discussions, participants will spend time articulating goals that are meaningful to them and their work, while framing them against tools such as the Circles of Influence Framework, the Need/Want Matrix of Goal Setting, and Workday’s Goal Setting function.

Intended Audience

This workshop is open to all university employees. While participants may include those in people-leader roles, this workshop focuses on individual goal setting and personal leadership strategies.
