Professor Sue Ann Campbell began her term as president of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematical Society/ Société Canadienne de Mathématiques Appliquée et Industrielle (CAIMS/SCMAI) in June 2023.

The Department of Applied Mathematics recognized excellence in graduate students with eight Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards and a Doctoral Award, which will be presented on 14 July 2023.
Professor Siv Sivaloganathan of the Department of Applied Mathematics was awarded the 2023 CAIMS-Fields Industrial Mathematics Prize at the annual meeting of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematical Society/ Société Canadienne de Mathématiques Appliquée et Industrielle (CAIMS/SCMAI) in June 2023. The prize recognizes exceptional research in any area of industrial mathematics conducted in Canada. Professor Sivaloganathan is the 12th recipient of the prize, which was first awarded in 2010.
