market

Canada
stood
at
$2.6
billion in
2020
and
by
2026,
forecasted
to reach
$8.62
billion
(CAD).
Meanwhile,
according
to
dailyhive.com,
Harvard
Business
Review
once
called
Data
Scientists
“the
sexiest
job
of
the
21st
century.”,
and
aerial
drones
technology
can
now
give
oil
and
gas
images
and
data
that
were
impossible
to
get
before.
But
what
does
this
mean
for
jobs
in
these
emerging
sectors?

Julie
Ford
(BA
'07,
English)
Julie
Ford
began
her
marketing
career
as
a
content
marketer
more
than
14
years
ago.
She
has
since
grown
to
become
a
marketing
strategist
and
leader.
Julie
has
been
building
and
leading
high
performance
marketing
teams
since
2013
in
technology
companies
as
well
as
her
own
marketing
agency.
In
her
current
role
as
Vice
President
of
Marketing
at
SkyX,
a
high
growth
startup
in
the
drone
and
aerial
data
space,
Julie
is
focused
on
building
and
scaling
the
marketing
team.
Julie
was
previously
Head
of
Marketing
at
Leonardo
where
she
completely
repositioned
the
company,
refreshed
the
brand
and
digital
presence
and
significantly
increased
marketing’s
revenue
contribution.
Julie
has
also
scaled
her
own
marketing
agency
over
eight
years
working
with
numerous
Toronto-based
tech
companies
and
many
notable
brands,
including
Tridel,
SickKids
Hospital,
Peller
Estates
Winery,
Henry’s
Camera.
Tulu
Makonnen
(MA
'06,
Economics)
Tulu
Makonnen
works
in
the
emerging
field
of
Data
Science.
In
2020,
Data
Science
held
the
third
spot
on
LinkedIn’s
emerging
jobs
report.
According
to
the
CRA,
our
ability
to
collect,
manipulate,
analyze,
and
act
on
vast
amounts
of
data
is
having
a
profound
impact
on
all
aspects
of
society.
Tulu
has
been
working
as
a
Data
Scientist
since
2018
building
custom
software
solutions
that
help
organizations
with
predictive
analytics
and
machine
learning,
quantitative
measure
of
sales
&
marketing
campaigns,
customer/market
insights,
forecasting
models,
and
the
automation
of
routine
performance
reporting
and
data
visualization.
His
advice
on
differentiating
his
resume,
and
tips
on
starting
a
career
were
also
valuable.
Words
like
“efficiency,”
“cost
cutting”
and
“analytical”
are
valuable
on
a
resume,
and
according
to
Tulu,
that
has
helped
distinguish
him.
His
advice
on
interviews
is
to
take
feedback
and
gain
from
the
experiences
even
if
they
aren’t
successful.
Additionally,
he
believes
that
regardless
of
the
job
mandate,
to
focus
on
your
personal
core
competency
and
to
differentiate
yourself
beyond
what
is
expected.
Tulu
also
shared
that
his
first
job
was
on
a
friend’s
recommendation
and
stressed
that
networking
is
very
helpful
in
growing
your
career.

'15,
Economics)
Sean
is
the
President
and
Co-Founder
of
BlackRose
Reserve
Inc.
a
Craft
Cannabis
Company.
Sean
is
an
Operations
leader
with
a
keen
understanding
of
business
execution
built
through
hands-on
experience
in
multiple
fast-paced
industries
such
as
finance,
logistics,
manufacturing,
food
service
and
construction
management.
Sean
has
strengths
in
resource
management,
process
improvements,
communication
and
people
management,
achieving
performance
targets,
as
well
as
project
management.
Repeatedly
promoted
to
leadership
and
management
positions
in
all
different
industries
and
operations
throughout
his
career. Most
recently
by
promotion
to
lead
treasury
officer
responsible
for
all
Canadian
cash
operations
for
Mitsui
&
Co.
Canad
Ltd.
After
his
experience
managing
large-scale
financial
operations
for
a
multi-national,
Sean
founded Black
Rose
Reserve
Inc.
which
is
a
Health
Canada
licensed
micro-processor
start-up.
Although
Black
Rose
Reserve
has
only
been
licensed
since
February
of
2021
it
was
founded
in
2018
by
Sean
and
his
brother.
