Rally in support of Muslim community on campus and worldwide

Tuesday, January 31, 2017 12:00 pm - 12:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Students, faculty, and staff, stunned and deeply saddened by the murder of Muslim worshipers at the Grande Mosquée de Québec and appalled by events unfolding now in the United States, will gather tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 January, at noon on the Arts Quad of the University of Waterloo campus, and then again at 7:15 in the Student Life Centre to express our sorrow, as well as our support for our Muslim peers, colleagues, students, across Canada and around the world.

The noon vigil will include time for mourning together in silence, as well as speeches by community members impacted by recent events.

The UW Muslim Student Association vigil and prayers will begin at 7:15 with words of support, prayers for victims at 7:25, and evening prayers in Arabic at 7:30.
