Four graduate students in the Industrial/Organization Psychology program swept the podium at Canadian Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (CSIOP) poster awards. Congratulations to Amy Barron, Iris Xing and Allister Grapes who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, as well as Pearlyn Ng for winning the best Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) poster award.

Held during the Canadian Psychological Association’s annual convention this past June, this competition recognizes exceptional posters by undergraduate and graduate CSIOP student members. Judging criteria included the quality and visual balance of the poster, the student’s presentation skills and understanding of the topic, and the novelty and complexity of the topic.

These students distinguished themselves through their thoughtful and detailed poster content, emphasizing clarity, key takeaways and impactful visuals. Iris Xing’s second place poster highlighted her research on the unreliability of student evaluations of teaching (SETs) due to influences unrelated to teaching quality, such as instructor style and classroom environment. First place winner Amy Barron focused factors that may bias managers’ interpretation of mistreatment claims among employees.

Reflecting on her participation, Amy Barron shared, “I was incredibly honoured to win this award! I am passionate about my research, and I am thrilled that my efforts have resonated with others. I look forward to furthering my studies and making a meaningful impact.”
