Description

A group of faculty and staff members in the Faculty of Engineering are organizing the Canadian Design Workshop (CDW) – a small conference at the UW in July 2020. Modelled after the Mudd Design Workshop, the CDW will establish a network of Canadian engineering design educators and researchers to share experiences and current research. While conference costs will be covered through the Faculty’s support and participants’ fees, a LITE seed grant would provide significant support for 2 related objectives: 1) evaluate the effectiveness of the workshop at achieving its stated goals, and 2) describe the current design education landscape in Canada and to extend the reach of the workshop to those unable to attend. These objectives will be achieved through analysis of data from a conference retrospective and survey, through writing a paper summarizing the conference, and managing a special issue of an educational journal with selected papers from the conference.
