Preparing students to be global citizens by inculcating broad diversified awareness and creating learning opportunities for them in international settings is one of the overall objectives outlined in UW’s Sixth Decade Plan.  Programs undergoing review are now required to demonstrate that students are meeting the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents’ (OCAV) Undergraduate Degree Level Expectations (UDLEs).

Two of these UDLE’s -- experiential learning and diversity requirements -- address goals similar to those outlined in the Sixth Decade Plan; that is, programs must be able to demonstrate that students graduating from their program have the ability to “articulate their learning from experiential or applied opportunities” and “demonstrate an understanding of the intellectual, social, cultural, and political diversity of the world in which we live.”
