Two half-day workshops — Tuesday, April 21, 2026 and Thursday, April 23, 2026.
CTE acknowledges the complexity of GenAI, including its social, ethical, and pedagogical dimensions, as well as the potential benefits and challenges it poses within educational contexts. This workshop is designed to provide an opportunity to learn about the tools available and to better equip you to make an informed decision about their use.
Please note this is a two-part workshop. Due to the design of the workshop, participants are expected to attend both days.
This assessment redesign workshop explores the implications of GenAI for assessment design, offering strategies to both harness GenAI as a learning tool and address challenges. Over two half-days, the workshop provides space, time, expertise, and peer feedback to help participants create assessments that are both innovative and resilient in the age of GenAI.
Workshop Learning Outcomes:
- Reflect on the purpose/design/goals of the assessment in the course.
- Rethink assessment in light of GenAI.
- Redesign the assessment.
Great ideas often arise from conversations with colleagues. To foster these conversations within the same (or similar) discipline, we encourage you to consider attending with another instructor or a small teaching team from your department. Sharing and developing approaches for GenAI at a program level can help inform decisions you make at a course level.
Note: This workshop provides opportunities for small group and large group discussions. Participants are welcome to participate by listening, thinking about examples, engaging in structured activities, and/or contributing to conversations throughout.

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
