Description
AI capabilities are rapidly advancing, now matching or exceeding student-level work across multiple domains such as writing, coding, and analysis. These developments are reshaping teaching practices and course dynamics, prompting educators to rethink assessments, redesign curriculum, and equip students with the skills needed to effectively navigate and leverage AI in their future careers.
This workshop will introduce a modified version of Perkins’ AI Assessment Scale (AIAS), designed to support transparent and meaningful conversations between instructors and students about the role of AI in course assessments. The scale outlines varying levels of AI integration, from complete restriction to full incorporation. Participants will have the opportunity to explore first-hand which AI tools and approaches may be appropriate for their classroom. To fully engage in the hands-on activities, please bring your laptop, a document (e.g., slides, PDF), and a content question (e.g., practice problem, tutorial) that you are comfortable inputting into AI tools. Some content questions will be provided for those who wish not to use their own.
Note: This is not an assessment re-design workshop. Please contact CTE staff for re-design support.
This workshop description was edited and rephrased with the assistance of AI.
