The following are special programs and services that are included are part of your benefit coverage through GreenShield (except for Telemedicine, which requires a user fee).
Change4Life
GreenShield’s Change4Life health portal is your all-in-one, online path to achieving better health and winning great rewards. Change4Life can be accessed by logging into your online account through GreenShield+. The health portal is a comprehensive resource that supports healthy life choices by providing you with personalized tips, easy-to-use online tools, and important information - all at your fingertips. You’ll get insights into your current health and learn how you can successfully improve it using a “small steps” approach. And, for those with a diagnosed medical condition (like high cholesterol, hypertension, or diabetes, for example), the health portal’s tools and information can make it easier for you to manage your condition.

Digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
GreenShield's Digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is designed for individuals 15+ and up to help people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression take control of their mental health. The service includes interactive learning modules, tools and coaching to help you develop positive coping strategies and reduce life disrupting symptoms without the wait.
Service at a cost to plan members
GreenShield plan members have access to the Telemedicine service. However, the cost is 100% plan member paid and not covered under your University of Waterloo Extended Health and Dental Benefits Plan. Plan members can purchase consultations out of pocket at the preferred pricing rate. Those who choose to use this service will not be reimbursed or compensated.
Telemedicine
Telemedicine allows you to consult a Canadian-licensed healthcare professional for a fee without needing to visit a physical healthcare facility, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals who live in remote areas, have mobility limitations, or require immediate medical advice and are unable to book an appointment with their primary healthcare provider. These healthcare professionals can evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients at a distance and also prescribe medications, paramedical services, and medical items during a consultation.
Once you accept a prescription medication, you’ll have the option to pick it up from any pharmacy in Canada, or it will be delivered right to your door (at no additional cost). Prescriptions for paramedical services or medical items can be sent digitally in the mobile app.
If you chose to use this user-paid service, you will need to register for Telemedicine on the GreenShield+ website or app in addition to your current account, as you will need to add a payment method.
