For the second year in a row, the University of Waterloo has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, an annual ranking of businesses and organizations across the country who lead in attracting and retaining employees. The annual survey is run by Mediacorp Canada.
As of November 1st, the hiring process for temporary staff has changed. In the spring of 2016, Human Resources received approval to conduct a pilot within the Student Services portfolio to establish a hiring process for temporary staff that aligned with our hiring of regularized staff.

The Human Resources Satisfaction Survey results are now available. Every member of the HR leadership team read what you had to say and has been giving it careful consideration. You told us what we’re doing well and gave us some things to work on. Our goal is to improve our services and we have been developing initiatives that will address your key concerns.
Ontario’s Pay Equity Office recently notified the University that it will be reviewing our compensation practices for compliance with the Pay Equity Act, through their Monitoring Program. The Act requires the University to follow compensation practices that ensure employees in female job classes are paid at least as much as employees in male job classes of comparable value. Please refer to the Notice of Requirement to Achieve and Maintain Pay Equity.
You will soon be receiving your annual pension statement for the period ending December 31st, 2016.
As a result of the new pension system launched in late 2016, the statements will have a new and improved format. An electronic copy will be posted to myPENSIONinfo within the next few weeks.
As part of the launch of the Unit 4 financial system in May 2017, FORE reporting for detailed salary / scholarship expenses and encumbrances, will no longer be updated. Human Resources (HR) has partnered with Information Systems Technology (IST) and Finance to deliver a replacement solution that will ensure that this information continues to be available for those who use it regularly.
