Ontario’s Pay Equity Office recently notified the University that it will be reviewing our compensation practices for compliance with the Pay Equity Act, through their Monitoring Program. The Act requires the University to follow compensation practices that ensure employees in female job classes are paid at least as much as employees in male job classes of comparable value. Please refer to the Notice of Requirement to Achieve and Maintain Pay Equity.
You will soon be receiving your annual pension statement for the period ending December 31st, 2016.
As a result of the new pension system launched in late 2016, the statements will have a new and improved format. An electronic copy will be posted to myPENSIONinfo within the next few weeks.
As part of the launch of the Unit 4 financial system in May 2017, FORE reporting for detailed salary / scholarship expenses and encumbrances, will no longer be updated. Human Resources (HR) has partnered with Information Systems Technology (IST) and Finance to deliver a replacement solution that will ensure that this information continues to be available for those who use it regularly.
The group benefits contracts that cover the University of Waterloo’s life insurance, extended health, dental, and long term disability benefits are renewed each May 1.
The rates are effective May 1, 2017 and are provided in the benefit premium section.

The Pension & Benefits Committee recently reviewed the maxima corresponding with retiree life, extended health, and dental benefit provisions and approved the following changes effective January 1st, 2017:
As of September 1, 2016, an Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) through Homewood Health is available for eligible active employees and their dependents. To access EFAP, individuals can call 1.800.663.1142 or visit the Homeweb website.
