Workshop Overview:
Are you looking to improve your facilitation skills - either for the presentations you do or for the meetings you lead? This workshop is ideal for those already facilitating and those looking to hone their skills.
Through demonstration and experiential opportunities, tangible tips for tailoring facilitation to your specific audiences, increasing participation and discussion, and for addressing potential challenging behaviours will be provided via a hands-on, supportive workshop. You will be encouraged to identify your personal facilitation style and to gain more confidence despite the discomfort often associated with public speaking. This workshop will culminate in a low-stakes practice opportunity which will be accompanied by immediate gentle feedback from the facilitator.
FYIs:
-
Folks who have participated in OHD’s Facilitation Fundamentals (previously delivered over 2-days in person) will be familiar with this content. We have refreshed the workshop to better suit a condensed 1-day, in person experience.
-
This workshop centers the conversation around facilitation of in person meetings and presentations.
Special Note:
A companion to this workshop has been newly developed encouraging participants to both be mindful of, and to intentionally embed, equity practices within their facilitation modalities and tools. That workshop encourages you to think about how to create safer spaces, provides strategies you can utilize to ensure marginalized voices are being heard, and assists you to address common behaviors presented when privileges are challenged.
If interested, please see Facilitating with Equity for further information and to enroll in the next offering when next available.
