Average cigarette consumption among daily smokers was 13.7 cigarettes per day (CPD) in 2017, unchanged from the 2015 estimate of 13.8 CPD.12 From 1999 to 2017, cigarette consumption declined significantly,13 by more than 3 cigarettes per day (Figure 1.8). The average rate of decline in cigarette consumption during this time period was 1.2% per year.14 However, the number of cigarettes per day consumed by daily smokers has remained unchanged since 2013.
