Cigarette consumption

In 2013, average cigarette consumption among daily smokers was 13.9 cigarettes per day (CPD), a significant drop from the 2012 rate of 15.0 CPD.12 From 1999 to 2013, cigarette consumption declined significantly,13 by more than three cigarettes per day (Figure 1.8). The average rate of decline in cigarette consumption during this time period was 1.3% per year. There is evidence that the difference between successive years is getting smaller with time. 14
