The Faculty of Arts welcomes Dr. Emma Brandt, a new postdoctoral fellow working in Communication Arts who began in her role on September 1, 2024.

PhD student Karmvir Padda from the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies has been awarded the P.E.O. Scholar Award for her contributions to the field of sociology and research on online radicalization and extremism.

The Faculty of Arts is pleased to welcome two new postdoctoral fellows, who have joined the Provost’s Program for Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Scholars: Dr. Geneva Smith who began in her role on July 1, 2024, and Dr. Paula Catalina Sanchez Nuñez de Villavicencio who will begin on August 1, 2024.

Four graduate students in the Industrial/Organization Psychology program swept the podium at the Canadian Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology poster awards. Congratulations to Amy Barron, Iris Xing and Allister Grapes who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, as well as Pearlyn Ng for winning the best Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion poster award.

The Dean of Arts announced that Dr. Shana MacDonald will be the inaugural O’Donovan Chair in Communication Across the Disciplines to foster mutual respect and understanding among scholars and practitioners in the humanities, sciences, and technology fields.
