Description

This project will develop and assess a training workshop in Intellectual Property (IP) literacy targeted at 4th year undergraduate engineering students in their capstone design courses.  Typically, students learn about IP ad-hoc from instructors, on their coop work terms, or through campus and external resources.  This project aims to create the first of a set of workshops that are designed as experiential learning activities to give students the foundational knowledge required to practice and develop associated skills to understand the IP landscape and be able to identify and recognize potential new IP opportunities. These workshops would provide worked examples related to their disciplines of study, and the necessary research methods of how to identify new potential IP opportunities.  The design of the workshop will be based upon inputs from capstone coordinators and student teams and a process of pilot-testing and revision.
