Description

Entrepreneurship education is much undertaken, much studied, and of little measurable impact.  The measurement challenge is to disentangle success at learning and applying entrepreneurship skills, from success at venture creation.  This project will leverage a phased approach to isolate the application of learned skills from venture creation.  The first phase consists of an apprenticeship-based learning experience in which students learn through partnerships with existing ventures, and the second phase consists of work towards the student’s own venture, within the supportive environment of the educational program.  Using a longitudinal approach that will collect data at four points during the 18 month-long study, this project will critically examine the extent to which students apply what they have learned in the first phase, in the second phase.  It will also provide students with an opportunity to reflect on the interplay of affect, identity, and skills development during their entrepreneurial journeys.
